We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good

Fresno's Chaffee Zoo argues for one-tenth-cent sales tax increase, current rates here, to be sent to them. Controlling expenditures, raising ticket prices, and asking for contributions would cut into junket time, I guess.
Since 2000, Fresno County voters have twice turned back sales tax increases that would have benefited the zoo. Both received more than half the vote, but sales tax measures -- such as Measure Z -- require two-thirds approval to pass.
No vote is final until it gets the desired result. Then it's forever, until it's time to raise the rates.
